Free Machine Embroidery Workshop

Free machine embroidery is one of those techniques that looks complicated but is actually great fun once you know a few simple tips and tricks.

This workshop is suitable for beginners, as well as for anyone who has tried the technique before and would like another go at it. We’ll spend some time going over how it works and how to get the best results from your sewing machine. Once you understand the basics, it’s surprisingly simple and very addictive. We’ll experiment using appliqué to make a lovely panel.

During the session you’ll create a stitched panel using free machine embroidery. Many people start with our popular jug of flowers design, which is a lovely project and a great way to learn the technique. It’s the example you’ll see in the photo and it’s one we know works really well.

However, if you’ve already made the jug of flowers before and would like to try something different, you’re very welcome to bring along your own simple design and experiment with that instead.

By the end of the workshop you’ll have a finished stitched panel and the confidence to carry on exploring free machine embroidery at home.

As always, it’s a relaxed, friendly day of sewing in the Betty’s workroom with plenty of help along the way.
