Machine Embroidered Lampshade: Saturday April 18th, 10-4pm

This workshop is a lovely way to turn free machine embroidery into a usable piece of art. It’s ideal for anyone who’s tried free machining before and wants to take it a step further — but if you’re new, that’s absolutely fine too. I’ll guide you through the technique as we go.

In the morning, we’ll create an embroidered textile panel using a simple design based around seed heads (with a dragonfly motif included). You’re welcome to stick with the design provided or adapt it if you’re feeling more adventurous — both approaches work well.

The panel is sized to fit a 25cm drum lampshade, suitable for either a pendant (hanging) lampshade or a table/side lamp.

In the afternoon, we’ll construct the lampshade itself, turning your embroidered panel into a finished piece.

You’ll go home with a completed lampshade — a practical, decorative object and a piece of textile artwork you’ll genuinely use and enjoy.
