Sanda Jacket Weekend Workshop

For experienced garment makers

Spend a focused weekend in our sewing studio making your own version of the Sanda Jacket by Merchant & Mills. This much-loved design has a relaxed, boxy silhouette with a distinctive rolled collar, balancing practicality and style. The pattern comes in two lengths:

• The jacket with patch pockets
• The coat with inseam pockets

This workshop is aimed at confident garment sewers who want to push their skills further and achieve a more professional finish. With step-by-step guidance, you’ll work carefully through the construction process, learning how to handle heavier-weight fabrics and linings.

Skills Covered

• Applying lined patch pockets
• Sewing buttonholes on medium-weight fabric
• Constructing a rolled collar and turn-back cuffs
• Managing bulk and achieving clean, accurate finishes

A concentrated, skill-building weekend for those ready to take their sewing up a level and leave with a beautifully made jacket or coat.

Times

Full-day workshops usually run 10am–4pm

What’s Included

• Small-group tuition (usually 4–5 people)
• Use of our sewing machines, tools and notions
• Light lunch, cake, and tea & coffee all day

Please let us know in advance about any food allergies.

What to bring

Nothing essential – we provide machines.

You’re welcome to bring your own scissors or tools if you prefer.

Fabric & Preparation

• Measurements are often needed in advance
• Please choose fabric before the workshop, not on the day
• We recommend buying fabric from the shop – it’s curated to work well with our courses
• Workshop attendees receive 15% off fabric
• We can’t be responsible for problems caused by unsuitable fabric bought elsewhere

Parking

On-site parking is very limited and not suitable for all-day use.

Please use the free all-day car park just up the road on the right.

Cancellations

• Workshops are paid for in advance
• 48 hours’ notice minimum for cancellations
• Late cancellations are non-refundable
• You may send someone in your place if needed
