Betty’s Pull-On Bob Pencil Skirt

The Betty’s Pull-On Bob Pencil Skirt is a clever little pattern developed by our very own Hannah. It grew out of the hugely popular Bob trousers workshop when we realised just how much people love a garment that simply pulls on and fits beautifully.

This version keeps all the good bits. It has a smooth flat front, a comfortable elasticated back waistband, and generous patch pockets. The shape is a slimmer pencil-style skirt that still feels easy and practical to wear.

It’s a brilliant project for someone who is fairly new to sewing but already has a little confidence with a sewing machine. The construction is straightforward and satisfying, and you’ll come away with a really wearable garment.

The Bob Pencil Skirt works especially well in slightly heavier fabrics such as denim, canvas, twill, or sturdy cottons. We have lots of lovely options in the shop that are perfect for it.

It’s the kind of skirt that quickly becomes a wardrobe staple. Easy to wear, comfortable, and endlessly useful.

Times

Full-day workshops usually run 10am–4pm

What’s included:

• Small-group tuition (usually 4–5 people)
• Use of our sewing machines, tools and notions
• Light lunch, cake, and tea & coffee all day

Please let us know in advance about any food allergies.

What to bring:

• Nothing essential – we provide machines.
• You’re welcome to bring your own scissors or tools if you prefer.

Fabric & preparation:

• Measurements are needed in advance
• Please choose fabric before the workshop, not on the day
• We recommend buying fabric from the shop – it’s curated to work well with our courses
• Workshop attendees receive 15% off fabric
• We can’t be responsible for problems caused by unsuitable fabric bought elsewhere

Parking

On-site parking is very limited and not suitable for all-day use.

Please use the free all-day car park just up the road on the right.

Cancellations:

• Workshops are paid for in advance
• 48 hours notice minimum for cancellations
• Late cancellations are non-refundable
• You may send someone in your place if needed
