Tessuti Aida Dress Workshop

We’re very pleased to introduce the Tessuti Aida Dress, a lovely new pattern we’ll be making here at Betty’s.

The Aida is beautifully airy and easy to wear, making it perfect for warmer days. It’s a midi-length dress with colour blocked panels that create a really interesting, sculptural shape. The dress is slightly flared and semi-fitted with bust darts, giving it a flattering silhouette without feeling tight or fussy.

It’s sleeveless with a wide neckline so it slips easily over your head, and the neckline and armholes are finished with contrasting binding. A narrow hem completes the slightly asymmetrical hemline, which gives the whole dress a lovely modern feel.

One of the nicest things about the design is the chance to play with fabric. The panelled sections make it ideal if you’d like to mix fabrics in a subtle way.

It works beautifully in linen and would look fantastic in any of the linens we have in the shop. Cool, comfortable and stylish, it’s perfect for summer days, beach holidays, or simply something lovely and relaxed to wear.

This is a great project for a confident beginner who would like to build their garment sewing skills while making something they’ll wear again and again.

As always, we’ll guide you through the process step by step in the friendly Betty’s workroom.

Fabrics:

We ask that fabrics are purchased from Betty’s (with 15% off for course goers). We’ve tested and selected fabrics that work beautifully for this pattern, ensuring your robe is a success.

Before the course:

Please pop into the shop to see our sample so we can advise you on the best fabric and sizing for your project.

Workshop Information (Please Read)

A phone number is essential (mobile is preferred, landline is fine).

What’s Included

• Small-group tuition (usually 4–5 people)
• Use of our sewing machines, tools and notions
• Light lunch, cake, and tea & coffee all day

What to bring

Nothing essential – we provide machines.

You’re welcome to bring your own scissors or tools if you prefer.

Fabric & Preparation

• Measurements are often needed in advance
• Please choose fabric before the workshop, not on the day
• We recommend buying fabric from the shop – it’s curated to work well with our courses
• Workshop attendees receive 15% off fabric
• We can’t be responsible for problems caused by unsuitable fabric bought elsewhere

Parking

On-site parking is very limited and not suitable for all-day use.

Please use the free all-day car park just up the road on the right.

Cancellations

• Workshops are paid for in advance
• 48 hours’ notice minimum for cancellations
• Late cancellations are non-refundable
• You may send someone in your place if needed
